Resource LibraryThe Centre for CCC&BD Resource Library is a specialised collection of information covering all aspects of childhood cancer. The library has been designed to address specifically, the needs of patients, parents and their families, and is an added resource for staff and professionals attached to the Department of Haematology-Oncology.The library offers information in a number of ways: Patient and Family HandbookThe Patient and Family Handbook, is given to each newly diagnosed patient and their family by the Social Worker. The handbook offers families information about general hospital procedures, disease and treatment information and coping and support services.Quarterly NewsletterThe Parent Newsletter was established in 1987 by a parent volunteer, Merron Howard, with assistance from the medical staff, in response to an expressed need from parents who desired to maintain contact with other families and staff from the CCC&BD. The newsletter is made up of a collection of articles, to which families and staff and support services, regularly contribute. The newsletter is mailed out quarterly. Newly diagnosed patients are automatically added to the current mailing list. Articles may include:

The library and its various services is an attempt by the CCC&BD team to maintain a positive and caring environment for you and your child, to help make your hospital stay a more personal and less isolating one and to aid in your understanding and coping of the experience of having a child with cancer or blood-related disease.
