Turnbull Ward (C2W)

Sydney Children's Hospital has 16 in-patient beds for children with cancer and blood disorders. This includes 4 bone marrow transplant beds. The in-patient facility has specialised nursing staff providing care 24 hours every day. The unit also provides palliative care for children with cancer. A chair/bed is available at each bedside for one care-giver and other accommodation is available in the hospital and on campus (Ronald McDonald House). Parents have kitchen and bathroom facilities on the ward. A comfortable lounge area and balcony are within the ward confines.

Care-by-Parent is an additional unit in the hospital which provides a bridge between hospital and home for some children and their families. Parents or other care-givers provide all care to their child but have nursing support and remain within the hospital environment.

Children with cancer or blood diseases who are nursed outside of the oncology/haematology ward have an oncology Clinical Nurse Consultant available as a valuable resource to ensure that oncology/haematology (and a familiar face) nursing expertise is available wherever you are admitted.
